Michiel de Roo is a PhD Candidate at the School of Business and Economic at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Economics (cum laude) and a Research Master’s degree in Multidisciplinary Economics from Utrecht University School of Economics.

The aim of his PhD thesis is to develop multilevel theory about corporate social responsibility (CSR). Michiel studies how the relationship between organizations and the countries where they operate affect CSR outcomes and how CSR practices and procedures are implemented by individuals within large organizations. In this way, he studies from multiple perspectives (country-, organizational- and managerial-level) how organizations address CSR.
