Tjarda Molenaar

Director of the Dutch Private Equity and Venture Capital Association

Tjarda Molenaar is a PhD student in the Part-time PhD Programme in Business of the Amsterdam Business Research Institute. Her research explores integration of environmental, social and governance factors in private equity investment.

Next to being trained as a researcher, Tjarda is managing director of the Dutch Private Equity and Venture Capital Association. She has been a member of the General Council of The Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers (known as VNO-NCW) since 2003, she has held board positions, amongst them in the Board of the Nyenrode Foundation, owner of Nyenrode Business University and she served on various advisory committees of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. Before, she was an investment consultant with Gilde Investment Management and a management consultant with global consultancy firm Kearney. Tjarda obtained a master’s degree in econometrics from the University of Amsterdam.

During her career in the private equity industry, Tjarda has given many guest lectures on private equity and venture capital in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Business, Finance and Law. Also, she is a frequent speaker and moderator during private equity industry conferences, an interviewer on private equity-related topics for Management Scope, a Dutch magazine for top executives, and a columnist for Financial Investigator, a magazine on asset management and securities services for the Dutch institutional market.
